A Beautiful Day

What a beautiful day we had today. Temperatures below zero but with no wind and intense sun it made for a great day to be out and about. After a slow start in the morning we bundled up the boys and headed for a caching adventure in Dryden. I had noticed that a few caches were visited just a few days ago. While I really didn’t like the idea of digging for caches under 2 or 3 feet of snow, a previous find should leave some nice tracks to cache.

My track theory proved right. The first cache was quite easy to find. That finally search was greatly reduces as foot prints easily revealed the cache location. I must say the GPS coordinates where right on, too. As the log mentions, we approched the cache from the lake, walked across the ice with the kids in the sled in tow.

Our first winter find and our first cache find for this year. We did take the easy way and looked for a cache that had been found not too long ago. The trail in the snow certainly makes the final search very much simpler! Parked at the Dickson Road coordinates and walked across the ice to the cache location. It was a beautiful sunny day, no wind. Pulling the kids on the sled provided a good workout. Took the toy boat and left a rattle thingy. Also left ‘HGs FXDi Low Rider’ travel bug behind.

It took a moment to find a proper parking spot. The road leading to the cache location was quite narrow with just a small turn around at the end. The lack of traffic made it possible to park tight to the snowbank without obstructing the road too much.

Our second find this year and another with snow on the ground. Great little trails. Surprised that we met noone else. Easy find thanks to the trails. Yet another cache location with a great view. Didn’t intend to take anything but after we stuck the ‘Space Bug Beetle’ travel bug in there was no way the rubber straps would fit. So we took them for to pass on to another cache.

This caching trip was a good opportunity to drop of some travel bugs we hung on to way too long. With some delay we helped Space Bug Beetle and HGs FXDLi Low Rider on their journey.
