Q. PeeWeeLinux or Adi's Electronics?
A. PeeWeeLinux is not a business but the name of an embedded
Linux distribution. Adi's Electronics has always been the business
under which the products on the PeeWeeLinux website where sold.
Q. How secure is your website?
A. Online purchasing occurs using secure server technology. The
secure server technology used encrypts your personal financial
information before it is transmitted over the Internet, making it
secure. You can only purchase products on Adi's Electronics website
using a browser that supports secure server technology. Further,
order information such as credit card details are not stored on
the server. Upon completion of an order the data is encrypted and sent
to us.

A. The online order form requires credit card information.
Please contact us by phone or fill in the feedback form if you

money order is acceptable.
CompactFlash to IDE Adapters
Q. How do I configure BIOS/Linux/Windows to work with these?
A. The ComapctFlash to IDE adapters are passive devices. They
take advantage of the IDE emulation mode of ComapctFlash cards.
The BIOS or operating system will see the CompactFlash card
as a small IDE hard disk drive.
Q. Why did you have a warning about Linux fdisk?
A. During early experimentations with CompactFlash cards and
CompactFlash IDE adapters, we encountered a situation where
partitioning a card with Linux fdisk would severly corrupt the
CompactFlash card. We suspect that this was a problem with the
unbranded cards used in those early experiements.
We have used Kingston and Sandisk branded cards ever since and
we have not been able to reproduce this problem.
Q. Which CompactFlash card should I use?
A. Different CompactFlash manufacturers achieve various degrees
of success with the IDE emulation of their CompactFlash cards.
Cards of same capacity but manufactured by different companies may
have very different disk geometries amongst other differences.
Even though most cards work in most machines, success is not
guaranteed. Choosing a CompactFlash card from a different vendor
may make all the difference when problems are encountered.
Q. Can I boot from this device?
A. Yes, just fdisk and format the ComapactFlash card like any
other hard disk drive. Restore the MBR or install a boot loader
(like Grub, LILO, etc) of your choice. If your card is the primary
master, it should boot like any other hard disk drive.
Q. Can I hot-swap cards using these devices?
A. No, hot-swapping cards is not supported with these CompactFlash
to IDE adapters.
Q. Are there drivers for these adapters?
A. The CompactFlash specification is IDE compatible. No drivers
are required or available.
Q. Do these adapters work with the IBM Microdrive?
A. Yes, the CompactFlash connector supports type I (regular
CompactFlash) and type II (IBM microdrive) cards.
Q. How much power do these adapters require?
The adapter is passive and does not draw any power by itself.
Typical CompactFlach cards require less than 100mA from the +5V
rail, +12V is not needed.
